Jay Basu To Pen Script For Video Game ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Movie | Film News

Fans of the Metal Gear Solid games have heard whispers of a film adaptation for a while now, with no real evidence of the movie actually happening (to some fans joy), but now it appears the adaptation has been given the green light as Jay Basu is on board to pen the screenplay. According to Deadline, the Monsters: Dark Continent writer is set to team up with Kings of Summer director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who’s still said to be helming the project.

Take a look at the original game synopsis; “Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit. As part of his mission, Snake must liberate hostages before confronting the terrorists in order to stop them from launching a nuclear strike”. I can’t say I’ve ever played Metal Gear Solid but its fierce fan following haven’t been overly thrilled by the idea of Snake’s world becoming a feature film. Still, with an interesting premise, Basu might pull off this solider fueled game adaptation to ensure it’s fan worthy!
