Jess Green To Headline ‘Talk The Walk’ At Globe At Hay – Friday, February 20 | Events

The first of the Globe at Hay-on-Wye’s series of spoken word events features Jess Green on Friday, February 20. Her poem “Dear Mr. Gove” became a YouTube phenomena and has had over 300,000 views. The poem addresses Green’s issues with what’s happening to the education system in the U.K., particularly the curriculum, and can be seen below. Education has often been the subject matter of Spoken Word poetry’s internet successes.

Suli Breaks has had the largest profile of success in terms of views, with over 4,000,000 views on “I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate” and George The Poet who is tipped for a big year has also tackled the subject. The Globe at Hay’s first Talk the Walk event will take place this Friday, February 20 and also features Matthew Plumb who you can watch a small documentary about here. Tickets for the event are available here.

Chris Hyde

I'm a writer, spoken word poet, rapper, and songwriter. Basically I'm all about the words and I can't focus on one thing at a time. I spend a lot of my time in the studio. I'm a graduate of Leicester university but now I live in the leafy green wilderness. My background is in grassroots politics and being angry at the 'man'. Now I buy way too many clothes and trainers to be preaching. If its got clever, intriguing lyrics and a catchy hook, you got me.
