John Boyega To Lead ‘Pacific Rim’ Sequel | Film News
The Star Wars cast has been getting busier than ever and John Boyega makes no exception. In fact, news came in that John Boyega has been tapped to take on the mantle from Idris Elba as he will portray Stacker Pentercost’s son in the sequel to the Kaiju/Jaeger blockbuster, Pacific Rim:Maelstrom.
The entire prospect of having the British star lead the new movie is an exciting one and we are sure the talented actor will leave his mark here too, especially since his character will be probably taking on his father’s duties in cancelling the Apocalypse.
We have no word on whether this will be a direct sequel or it would be more of a spin off. There has also been no word yet on whether any of the original cast would be back or if we would get a cameo from Ron Pearlman’s golden shoes. Still, the addition of Boyega to the cast is a fantastic choice and we will probably get more cast announcements soon.
With Steven S. DeKnight taking the reins over from Guillermo Del Torro and a script by Jon Spaihts, Zak Penn and Derek Connolly we hope to see the cameras rolling later this year.
