A lot of things went down at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere, as one would expect. It was only the most anticipated event of the year – and it was giving everyone all the feels. Kathleen Kennedy shared a moving, riveting and inspiring anecdote to the crowd at the Dolby theatre before the screening began.

Revealing that after Raiders of the Lost Ark was released in 1982, “…a box of super-8 movies Steven (Spielberg) made as a kid had long been lost, but were found,” Kennedy told the engaged audience. “I hired two 16-year-old young filmmakers to restore them. One of those boys was J.J. Abrams”.

“We paid him $300,” Kennedy said fondly, reflecting on the memory. “then we watched for 30 years as his career flourished. When George offered to have me step into one of the greatest jobs in show business, taking the reins of Lucasfilm, ushering in new Star Wars films, only one person seemed perfect to direct that first movie,” she said. “J.J. has incredible talent, a love of Star Wars, and enormous respect for George”.

Among those present at the glitzy and heartwarming affair, was self-proclaimed Star Wars fanatic and all around adorable human being Joseph Gordon-Levitt – and wow, did he declare his love for the franchise to the world. Levitt showed up in what was clearly a home-made Yoda-outfit and proved that nobody loves the franchise as much as he does.

He was dressed to the nines in green and pink Chuck Taylor trainers, pyjama trousers and a white form-fitting bathrobe. A painted green face and a green beanie with Yoda ears completed the wonderful look. He wasn’t the only star to go full-Star Wars. Rainn Wilson (The Office) donned a Jedi outfit while his son Walter dressed up as Boba Fett.
