Lionel Richie Announces Las Vegas Residency Shows | Music News

Lionel Richie has announced that he will be performing 20 shows at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, the star will take the AXIS stage starting April 27 next year. The cheapest tickets will go on sale on Friday at $59 (£38). He made the decision after consulting his 21 year old son Miles. Lionel said “I asked him, ‘so Miles, what do you think about Vegas? Should I do it?’, He goes, Oh my God dad. We are going to have a great time. We are going to have the greatest time“.

Speaking to LA Times the singer said “I’m so excited to begin my residency at Planet Hollywood. I can’t wait to share ‘All the Hits, All Night Long’ with all of my fans – it’s a high energy show that is a perfect match for such a vibrant city. So it’s just time. And it’s a perfect place to try out new material, to get close to what’s going on in the business“.

He also spoke about getting residency tips and what he enjoys about Sin City, “I love the DJ thing – that’s someone, believe it or not, pulling off a fabulous show without singing one note; that’s just strictly production. So you go see that, then you go see the main shows: Celine, Elton, Rod [Stewart]. Those are my contemporaries. I want to see what they’re doing, figure out what they’re about. And then you hit everything in between. I’m going to see Britney soon because I want to see what she does“.
