Lucy Rose To Release New Album ‘Work It Out’ On July 6 | Music News

The very modest, strawberry blonde twenty-six year old singer-songwriter from Warwickshire, England, who goes by the name of Lucy Rose, is set to release her second album Work It Out on July 6. With her indie-folk vibes, Lucy began her musical pathway as a drummer in her school’s orchestra and frequently played on the family piano. Following that, she taught herself how to play guitar after buying one herself and started writing her own material around the age of sixteen.

Lucy Rose didn’t officially set out to become a musician. Despite listing Neil Young and Joni Mitchell among her influences, her musical exploration of new artists really began when she moved to London at eighteen, intending to take up her place at UCL to study geography, but realizing that she wasn’t passionate enough about the thought of attending university, it was at this point that she really indulged in the music world instead, playing and performing regularly with other musicians.

During this time, she met Jack Steadman, the frontman of the band Bombay Bicycle Club. She provided vocals on their third album A Different Kind of Fix, and toured with the band and Noah and the Whale around the UK, US and Canada in 2012. Later that year, she was signed to Columbia Records, and released her debut album Like I Used To on September 24, 2012.

As a quirky fact on the side, she sells her own tea, which she calls Builder’s Breakfast tea (a blend of English breakfast and Earl Grey) because “she likes tea and thought it would be funny”. She often sells it alongside her merchandise at her shows. Her new album Work It Out was produced by Rich Cooper, who has also worked with Tom Odell and Mumford & Sons, and is said by Lucy Rose to demonstrate her personal development since her last album.

A single “Like An Arrow” from her new album has had airplay on BBC Radio 1 already and reveals a very promising future for her new album. As well as her gentle, fluid vocals and poetic writing style, Lucy has received a lot of positive feedback from her music videos, many of which have been shot by her close friend Orestes Mitas. She has many upcoming shows at venues around the UK and Europe. Tickets are available on her website, where you can also pre-order her upcoming album.
