One of the most highly anticipated film reboots of 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road has been named best film of the year by the National Board of Review. Despite many people thinking the film to be an unusual choice for the award, the board made up of academics, film historians and students, claimed they were “thrilled” to be awarding the “iconic” film makers, (Ridley Scott and George Miller), as well as to be “celebrating the next generation of talent”.

The latter probably referring to the up and coming cast, featuring the likes of Zoe Kravitz, Nicholas Hoult and Rosie Huntington-Whitely amongst others. Unfortunately for the cast and crew, it’s deemed unlikely that the Tom Hardy action-packed flick will receive many honours over awards season, possibly being overshadowed by films such as Carol and other dramas.
