Marti Noxon Inks Deal With Netflix | TV News

Netflix has signed another top TV showrunner to an exclusive deal as the streaming giant looks to stay ahead of the game as competition from Disney and DC arrive next year.

Marti Noxon, the creator/showrunner of the recently acclaimed HBO series Sharp Objects as well as Dietland, has signed a multi-year pact with Netflix that will see her produce programming through her Tiny Pyro banner.

Netflix will have a first-option on any of Noxon’s future projects, while following her is Maria Grasso, who will continue her role as President of Tiny Pyro. VP of Original Content at Netflix, Cindy Holland, said in a statement:

“Marti Noxon is a brilliant and visionary creator who explores emotional depths to reveal the inner lives and struggles of complex, modern women. Her work is often both brave and vulnerable, with a distinct voice, sense of humour and tone that is uniquely her own”.

This actually isn’t the first collaboration between Noxon and Netflix, as she previously wrote and directed her feature debut with the 2017 Netflix Original To The Bone, which followed a protagonist with an eating disorder. She has also worked on shows such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Glee, Mad Men and Grey’s Anatomy.

“Who can resist the allure of Netflix?”, Noxon said in her own statement. “Not only do they continually produce ground-breaking and visually stunning content, they’ve developed a platform that’s so influential it’s become a verb. I Netflix at home, happily, and now I’m even more excited to Netflix for a living”.
