Michael Sheen And David Tennant To Head ‘Good Omens’ At Amazon | TV News

Michael Sheen and David Tennant are the latest stars to jump on the Amazon bandwagon, joining the series adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett‘s Good Omens. Gaiman serves as showrunner, executive producing for BBC Studios alongside Caroline Skinner, and Chris Sussman; Rob Wilkins and Rod Brown will executive produce for Narrativia.

According to Variety, “the show is set in 2018 on the brink of an apocalypse as humanity prepares for a final judgment. But Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a demon, aren’t enthusiastic about the end of the world, and can’t seem to find the Antichrist.”

The story very much seems the mythical, mystical, Shakespearean-esque story fit for Sheen (Aziraphale) and Tennant (Crowley). Sheen has showcased a masterfully varied range in The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), TRON: Legacy (2010), and TV series Masters of Sex.

Tennant meanwhile is among the most favoured timelords in Doctor Who, and has enjoyed critical acclaim for his TV works on the likes of Broadchurch, and theatre work including Hamlet.

Speaking of the project, Sheen sated that Good Omens has been one of his “favourite stories ever” since reading it as a teenager, and, as most are, is “a huge fan of David’s“.

Good Omens, which will consist of six one-hour episodes, is yet to be given a premiere date but with the entertainment industry’s quick turnover, I imagine it’ll be hitting our screens fairly soon. Following its exclusive launch on Amazon, the series will be broadcast on the BBC.
