Miles Teller Bags Starring Role In ‘The Life And Times Of The Stopwatch Gang’ | Film News
Still buzzing off of his success in the incredible Whiplash, rising star Miles Teller is definitely a man in demand as he bags the starring role in The Life And Times of The Stopwatch Gang. With Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) helming the project, Universal Pictures recently bagged the rights to an article, written by Josh Dean, which tells the story of three Canadian bank robbers.
The three bank robbers made their fame by robbing banks in both Canada and the US, infamously known for never having to fire their guns, as well as the exceptional speed and precision with which they carried out their robberies. Take a look at the articles synopsis below, which originated from The Atavist;
“They were in and out in less than two minutes — that’s how they got away with millions. And for the duration of their reign, no bank robbers were more feared (though they never fired their guns) nor more pursued or more mythologized than the Stopwatch Gang. The members themselves were straight out of central casting: Lionel Wright, a meticulous introvert who could disappear in a room full of people; Paddy Mitchell, a charming and well-connected crook who saw an angle in everything and would go to any lengths to avoid the hell of being locked away; and Stephen Reid, a fearless point man who could find the weakness in any system and whose story – of addiction and descent into crime, of redemption and literary fame — was all prelude to a tragic but life-saving fall from grace”.
There’s been no confirmation yet as to which character Teller will play but it seems like a great opportunity to continue his rising career. It will be interesting to see who else Fleischer will cast to star alongside Teller because the characters sounds seriously interesting and I’m most definitely excited for a good heist/bank robber flick! Keep an eye out for more casting news coming this way!
