Netflix To Stream BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ Revival In Competition With Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Show | TV News

It’s the question of the year: which will do better, the BBC’s revival of Top Gear or James May, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond’s Amazon Car show? The plot seems to be thickening with Netflix announcing that it will stream the new series starring Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc, pitting it against Amazon’s Prime show with the former presenters.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer commented on the new deal saying:

“Theoretically it should follow the deal of the old format where ‘Top Gear’ is still under the terms of the old deal. So in many parts of the world we already have it picked up and we’ll continue to talk to them about doing it as well. The show is very popular on Netflix as you can imagine. There’s a change in format but people definitely prefer the British ‘Top Gear’ over the local ‘Top Gear’ in almost every country in the world”.
