New ‘Deadpool’ Stills Surface | Film News
In February next year, the wishes of many a fanboy will be fulfilled. X-Men has been resurrected through entries such as First Class and Days of Future Past after the car-crash that was The Last Stand. Although when asked, most people will point to Apocalypse as the next big entry in the X-Men franchise, there are quite a few that are shaking in excitement over a little film called Deadpool. In the run-up to its release, 20th Century Fox have released new stills from the film that reveal quite a bit when examined closely.
Deadpool addresses a character that for many is a glaring omission from the X-Universe: the eponymous merc with a mouth, Deadpool. In an effort to cure his cancer, ex-special forces operative Wade Wilson agrees to be a part of an experiment. The result of this experiment is that he has advanced healing abilities, an unstable mind, a deformed face, a dark and inappropriate sense of humour and he can break the fourth wall. Like the trailer says: “this is a different kind of superhero story.”
The stills that have been released by Empire reveal some interesting things about Deadpool, not least that one of them shows a young mutant wearing a costume belonging to the superhero group known as The New Mutants. That may not mean much to those that aren’t huge fans of X-Men but it is an interesting fact for fans that they will be making an appearance.
Other things featured in a still are Andre Tricoteux as the mutant Colossus and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, individuals we were introduced to in the first trailer 4 months ago, with Deadpool as he seemingly breaks the fourth wall. Although Apocalypse is hugely anticipated, Deadpool promises an experience unlike any other superhero movie that has come before. Deadpool will be released February 12, 2016 and you can view the trailer below and here are the stills from Empire.
