New Story Details Emerge For ‘Bad Boys For Life’ | Film News

While it’s debatable whether anyone asked for a third Bad Boys movie, it is indeed happening, with both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprising their roles as Detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett, respectively. Although Michael Bay will not be returning to follow up on Bad Boys II – one of the wildest, strangest, most absurd action movies out there – some story details have emerged for the film.

The third film in the franchise will see the Miami Police Department assembling an elite team known as AMMO that will be tasked with taking down a drug cartel leader and cold-blooded killer, played by Jacob Scipio. He also has a ruthless mother who has insisted that he kill Detective Lowery, though the reasons aren’t clear yet. Maybe they’re aren’t any.

At the same time, the AMMO team is being led by a criminal psychologist, Rite, who also happens to be Mike’s ex-girlfriend. Vanessa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig will both be a part of the AMMO team, while Joe Pantoliano will reprise his role as the angry Captain Howard.

It doesn’t sound like the most original story in the world, but the Bad Boys films have never lived or died by originality.

Joe Carnahan, Peter Craig and Chris Bremmer have penned the script, while the film will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Falah. It will be interesting to see how a Bad Boys film exists without Bay, and also how it fits into a contemporary world far different than the one it occupied back in 2003.

Bad Boys For Life is set to hit cinemas on January 17, 2020.
