New Trailer For Idris Elba’s ‘Bastille Day’ | Film News

Using his experience as Luther, Idris Elba is bringing the same hardened badassery to Bastille Day, only with more of a James Bond flair for spectacle. In readiness for its April 22 release, Studio Canal UK has released a trailer showing Elba in all his gristled glory.

Set in the beautiful streets of Paris, Bastille Day follows the story of CIA agent Sean Briar (Idris Elba) as he hunts an American petty criminal (Richard Madden) who is connected with a bombing in the city.

After capturing him, Briar realises that there is more to the bombing than he first suspected and enlists his prey’s help to uncover a conspiracy surrounding Bastille Day: the celebration of the storming of the Bastille which began the French Revolution.

Bastille Day is being directed by James Watkins, whose pedigree includes the disturbing modern horror Eden Lake and The Woman in Black. In the producer’s corner is Steve Golin, who has been behind not just one, but two, of the more acclaimed films this year: The Revenant and Spotlight.

With an explosive cast and crew, Bastille Day should offer a plethora of thrills to action fans. For a look at the action, check out the trailer below.
