With X-Men: Apocalypse due for release next year, it has been unclear what the future for the comic book franchise holds, with no indication as to any following projects. It has now been reported however that the next installment of the Marvel superheros will begin filming in 2017.

Le Journal De Montreal states that the X-Men crew and cast will set up in Montreal in late 2016, ready to begin shooting the film in 2017. Although this is merely speculation at this point, the Canadian publication was proved right when it reported the same information about X-Men: Apocalypse. It has also been claimed that director Bryan Singer will be returning to direct the seventh X-Men movie.

The article also quotes Michel Trudel, president of Mel Studios, where X-Men: Apocalypse was shot. He states, “it was a miracle that we managed to attract a movie X-Men in Montreal in 2013. To convince Fox to return for a second and now a third is simply amazing“.
