Noel Gallagher To Play Solo Set At Glastonbury? | Music News

The ever-speculative Glastonbury rumour mill took a fresh spin today, with Noel Gallagher suggesting that he will be bringing his guitar with him to the festival, regardless of whether he is asked to play there or not. On the same morning that he released a video for his new single “Ballad Of The Mighty”, Gallagher told XFM’s Breakfast Show: “If I’m not playing, I’m going!”. Before confirming that he is available, and teasing fans with the question, “shall I bring my amp and guitar? Shall I?”.

The High Flying Birds singer has received no contact from the festival’s organizers yet, but in a Facebook Q&A last year, he told fans of his desire to perform a solo slot at Worthy Farm, saying, “Yes, if I was asked, yes. If you are listening Michael Eavis, I’ll do it”. While an Oasis reunion remains far off, the likelihood of Noel playing at Glastonbury solo seems dependent on the will of Michael Eavis and daughter, Emily. Noel’s younger brother, Liam and his ex-band Beady Eye played a Friday morning guest slot there in 2013. And if Noel insists on taking his guitar and amp anyway, fans should be listening out for a surprise set at some point during the weekend.
