Oscar Isaac To Star In ‘Operation Finale’ | Film News

Oscar Isaac‘s stock has been steadily on the rise since his breakout role in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, and here’s another intriguing, meaty role he can add to his resume. The actor is set to hunt Nazis in Operation Finale.

The film tells the story of a group of Israeli spies who work together to track down Adolf Eichmann in Argentina in the 1960s so that he can stand trial for war crimes in Israel. Isaac will likely star as Peter Malkin, “an Israeli Mossad, who holds a deep hatred for the Nazis after they murdered his sister and her children”.

Matthew Orton‘s screenplay is said to be in the same vein as Ben Affleck‘s Argo and Steven Spielberg‘s Munich, so expect it to veer into thriller territory and not be solely a dour yet ultimately rewarding hunt for some horrible people.

Chris Weitz – writer of Rogue One – will direct, and production is set to begin this autumn in Argentina. Isaac is gradually becoming one of the most reliable, likeable stars in Hollywood, and here’s another chance for him to expand his wings past the Star Wars franchise and deliver in a prestige picture.
