Paul Rudd Helps Adam McKay Write ‘Ant-Man’ Script | Film News

When British director and writer Edgar Write (Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead) abruptly left the Ant-Man project after creative differences with Marvel, fans were frantic about who would take over. Peyton Reed (Bring It On, The Break Up) stepped in to direct and luckily for us, the brilliant Adam McKay (Anchor Man, Step Brothers) stepped in to write the screenplay – with a little help from star Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man, Anchor Man)!

Apparently Rudd and McKay completed the screenplay in just six to eight weeks, after holding up in a hotel room together, with McKay telling Collider“we added some new action beats, I grew up on Marvel Comics so the geek in me was in heaven that I got to add a giant action sequence to the movie. I was so excited. So we did; we added some cool new action. There’s a lot that’s already in there from what Edgar did, there’s a lot of dialogue and character still in there”. Great news, right? Starring Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Corey Stoll, Ant-Man hits theaters in July 2015.
