Raekwon Discusses Possible Wu-Tang Clan Biopic | Music News

It is no surprise that after the success of the recent N.W.A biopic, there are others in the Hip Hop industry who are wanting to jump on the Straight Outta Compton bandwagon. During an interview with Hot 97 at the launch event for his new Diadora N.9000 sneakers, Raekwon confidently spoke about the chance that a Wu-Tang Clan film could be made.

When we make a movie, bet your ass its gonna be serious. Because we gotta tell the truth. And I think that’s what I love about the ‘Straight Outta Compton’ movie is that they told the truth. When we do get to that level and it happens, it has to be the real story. It’s gonna be an interesting one, cause like I said – RZA hit the lotto one day. He knew who he had, but he didn’t know what he had. So let’s keep it right there“, Raekwon stated.

Rae has a point as The Wu, who were in many ways an East Coast counterpoint to N.W.A,  would serve as excellent subject matter for a biopic. The Staten Island and Brooklyn collective was filled with an assortment of charismatic and enigmatic characters such as the now deceased Ol’ Dirty Bastard and obviously the smooth talking Raekwon himself. Apparently Raekwon already has plans to release a documentary, The Purple Files, which is being released for the 20th anniversary of his solo album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.
