Rebel Wilson Films Rom Com After Winning Defamation Case | Film News
During the high profile court battle against Bauer Media, Rebel Wilson had been waiting in anticipation to begin work on her latest project Isn’t It Romantic. Finally, after winning the case, Wilson seems to have returned to her publicly known bubbly persona. She appeared happy along costar Tom Ellis and director Todd Strauss-Schulson in this Instagram post published yesterday.
Isn’t It Romantic sees Rebel Wilson take on a new kind of role; lead. Wilson’s rise to fame has constantly seen her play comic relief and scene stealer à la Pitch Perfect, so to get this kind of role as a plus-size actress is a significant move forward. Wilson’s strive to crush stereotypes also led to the recent opening of her plus size clothing line Rebel Wilson X Angels.
Wilson will play “a cynical woman who doesn’t believe in love and then wakes up to discover that her life has become a romantic comedy“. Liam Hemsworth stars opposite, with Wilson joking that the thought of ‘pashing’ him in the film helped her through the stress of the defamation trial which began after an article was published in Woman’s Day and Australian Women’s Weekly accusing Wilson of lying about the details of her life.
Isn’t It Romantic isn’t expected until 2019, so we’ll next see Rebel on our screens in Pitch Perfect 3 which premieres later this year.
