Redman – Funkorama (Cookin’ Soul Remix) | New Music

In recent months, Cookin’ Soul have experimented on numerous projects, supplying soulful trap beats for the likes of OG Danco (OG Maco and Curtis Williams) or adapting a Netflix original series’ theme tune. After delivering their take on an Eazy-E classic back in September, this time it is a Redman classic.

“Funkorama”, originally on Erick Sermon’s compilation, 1996’s Insomnia, takes flight in a very spaced out way. Layers upon layers combine for a wall of sound. The drums themselves are given a few bars to breathe, with only Reman’s relentless flow alongside them. There is also a good emphasis on this instrumentation, giving some space towards the end to let it sink into the listener’s ears.
