Rian Johnson Posts New Image From ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ | Film News
As promised, Rian Johnson‘s production of the as-yet-untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII is proving to be more transparent than J.J. Abrams‘ The Force Awakens. In the spirit of this, the director has released a picture of Lupita Nyong’o bringing Maz Kanata to life.
Maz Kanata, with her diminutive form and fish-bowl goggles, didn’t establish herself as a fan favourite in her Yoda-like role in The Force Awakens, being more of an expository narrative device than a well-rounded character. However, living in hope as Star Wars fans do, there is a desire to see her take on a bigger role than before. And we want to know how she got hold of Luke’s lightsaber.
Lupita Nyong’o joins Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher and Oscar Isaac in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which shall hit cinemas worldwide December 15, 2017.
