One year on from the announcement of a standalone David Brent movie, it appears that filming has finally commenced for Life On The Road, Gervais’ latest foray into the big screen. The film has been described as a ‘where are they now?’ type mockumentary on the former regional manager chasing his music dream with his band Forgone Conclusion – although Ricky Gervais indicates his character will retain a blissful lack of self awareness. “He thinks it will be like Scorcese doing The Rolling Stones“.
Principal photography began in London yesterday for the film, which will feature a soundtrack partly composed by Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Gervais, who will also return to host the Golden Globe awards in 2016, has hinted at an August 2016 release date.
