Rihanna Breaks Billboard Hot 100 Record | Music News
Rihanna has cemented herself in music history today as she over takes The Beatles record of weeks spent at No. 1 in America. She is the artist with the second longest streak of hits at the top of the Hot 100. She only trails to Mariah Carey, who has spent 79 weeks at the top. RiRi has spent the most amount of time at No1 not only this year, but this decade and this century!
Rihanna has spent 60 weeks at the top of the charts with just 14 songs. Howver some include collaborations which have caused controversy amongst music critics who believe that groups and artists who don’t have the option to collaborate are put at a disadvantage in receiving acclaim and commercial success. Interestingly if weeks prior to the Hot 100’s creation are counted then Elvis Preasly would also have spent 79 weeks at the top, putting him joint top in the history books.
