Run The Jewels have released a short documentary for Meow The Jewels, the charity remix Run The Jewels album created with cat sounds. In the clip, El P and Killer Mike reveal how the joke, which started on September 17 2014, became a reality after their successful Kickstarter campaign.

The duo also explained where the proceeds of the album have gone. The crowdfunded album originally aimed to raise $40,000 (£26,000) which was due to be donated to the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, who were the two American victims of police brutality. It eventually raised around $65,000 (£42,000) and surpassed their target expectations.

Commenting on the funding of the charity album, Killer Mike says, “When you think about the donations that came in for Run The Jewels, you have to know that at least half to 75% came in from young white Americans.” He then went on to say “Thank you guys out there, because that’s some very cool shit. It dispels the mythology that there are two teams in America and you need to choose one.”
