Ryan Reynolds In Negotiations For ‘The Rosie Project’ | Film News
After news came in that Ryan Reynolds will officially reprise his role as The Merc With a Mouth it was also reported that the actor is circling another project Hollywood has been desperate to make, The Rosie Project, which was formerly known as the Richard Linklater/Jennifer Lawrence vehicle.
If they reach an agreement we will probably see Reynolds helm the titular role of Don Tillman, a brilliant genetics professor, who is a little socially inept at times as he is an ‘Aspie’. One day he devises the ultimate scientifically backed up survey to meet his perfect match.
His ‘Wife Project’ however get a little complicated as he meets Rosie Jarman. Rosie is a lively and frustratingly disorganized bartender on the search for her biological father, who defies all the criteria on the list. As Don offers to help her with her ‘Father Project’ the two embark on a journey, which allows for plenty of funny and touching moments along with a few twists.
The film is an adaptation of Graeme Simsion‘s novel and is based on a script by the duo behind 500 Days of Summer, Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.
The project has no director attached to it, after Richard Linklater dropped out, following Jennifer Lawrence’s departure but Reynolds’ involvement will surely move it forward. Ryan Reynolds, who is a very busy man nowadays, thanks to a small superhero movie, will be seen next in the ensemble crime action Criminal coming out this year.
