Sam Witwer Wanted For ‘The Crow’ Remake Lead Role | Film News

Last month, it was confirmed that The Hobbit star Luke Evans has left The Crowremake project due to “scheduling issues” and it was back to the drawing board for the project to bag a leading man to play murdered anti-hero Eric. This project is one that’s meet met with numerous issues and it begs the question – is it even worth it? Director F. Javier Gutierrez was originally meant to be helming the project but bailed, leaving relatively newcomer Corin Hardy taking the reigns.

It all feels a little forced to even attempt at getting the project on the ground but at least there’s still one guy left feeling positive. The Crow creator James O’Barr is still feeling good about the movie and even has an actor in mind for who he wants to step in to play his leading character: Sam Witwer. Recognise the name? No, me neither. But there’s a good chance you’d recognise the face and this fan-favourite actor has a very nice one.

Witwer is mostly known for his role in the American remake of British supernatural series Being Human, where Witwer plays brooding vampire Aidan, once played by The Hobbit star Aidan Turner in the UK version. Witwer has also appears in the likes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Smallville and Battlestar Galactica.

Witwer himself has said to be keen on getting the lead role also, commenting on how he’d mow the creator’s lawn for the rest of his life just for a shot at the lead. I like his thinking. While I’m still not convinced about the project as a whole, Witwer seems like a good enough guys as any to take the lead! What do you guys think? Hopefully something official will come our way soon!
