It looks like there’s a growing number of upcoming television shows that are based off of popular films, and NBC has set its sights on 1999 drama Cruel Intentions.

Serving as the film’s sequel, the plot is set to focus on the character of Kathryn Mertuil, fifteen years after the original story. According to a report made by Deadline, Sarah Michelle Gellar has been approached by the network to reprise the role. The story will seemingly tackle very similar themes to the original film, albeit with a few added twists along the way.

This situation is quite similar to that of Ethan Hawke and Training Day which also occurs around the same time as its predecessor. Also, Gellar’s last major television role was in 2013’s ill-fated The Crazy One’s in which she played the daughter of the late Robin Williams’ character Simon Roberts.
