There’s a point where a debate becomes a rant, and one gets that sort of feeling with the news with Sky’s announcement that they will launch a rival to Question Time called rather enigmatically The Pledge.

Five panellists from a pool including Rachel Johnson, Michelle Mone, and Nick Ferrari will discuss issues – without a moderator. Whilst the broadcaster points out this fact as an unique feature, Director of Content for Sky News John McAndrew commenting:

“This is something really different for a TV news platform, straight-talking, opinionated contributors, no conventional host. We are really excited.”

The panellists also include Dragons’ Den tycoon James Caan, TV presenter June Sarpong, former England footballer Graeme La Saux, Apprentice winner Michelle Dewberry and Telegraph journalist Emma Barnett.

The first show will be filmed at Sky Studios in Osterley, airing from 8pm to 9pm every Thursday from the 21st of April.
