It has recently been announced that Screen Gems have landed Sylvain White as the director for their upcoming horror film, Slender Man. If you aren’t sure who Sylvain White is, he is known for films such as The LosersStomp The Yard and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer; along with TV shows such as Hawaii Five-0Sleepy Hollow and The Originals.

Slender Man will be White’s first feature since The Losers, which aired in 2010. The film will be scripted by David Birke and centres around internet phenomenon, Slender Man.  The urban myth that is Slender Man was first created by Eric Knudsen in 2009 in an internet forum for the Something Awful Photoshop competition.

Slender Man is a mythical creature often depicted as a tall, thin, faceless figure wearing a black suit. He is reported to be responsible for the disappearance of countless children and teens.

Whilst the Slender Man myth is plenty creepy on its own it also raises questions about the morality of such characters due to some shocking events that took place in Wisconsin in 2014. Back in the year in question Slender Man shot into headlines when two teenage girls attempted to kill a classmate to appease the mythical character.

Slender Man is planned to go into production in the Spring, so hopefully we will hear more about the eerie film shortly in the future.
