Smelly Cat Song From ‘Friends’ Was Originally Smelly Dog | TV News
Oh. My. God! According to Friends writer Betsy Borns, the hilarious Smelly Cat song performed by the wonderfully weird Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) was nearly about a smelly dog instead. Making its debut appearance in the episode The One With The Baby On The Bus, the iconic hit has remained a fan favourite even after the series ended in 2004.
Speaking to Refinery 29, the writer revealed she used inspiration from her own life when writing the episode: “I had a really stinky, smelly dog. But it was determined that ‘cat’ was funnier. My dog was so smelly his name was Gouda, because he smelled like bad cheese”. Would you have preferred a stinky canine origin instead? Check out the classic jingle below:
