Sophia Somajo – Sapphire | Music Video

Sophia Somajo is shaping up to be the new queen of Sweden after Tove Lo.
After the amazing “Chinese Tekkno” and “Klein Blue”, the enigmatic songstress released a new single from her EP Freudian Slip Vol 1. “Sapphire” is a gloomy and sparse synthpop number that explodes into a glimmery chorus that will haunt any lover of the 80s and heavy synths for days.

Sophia just released the official video for the track: thanks to a magistral art direction and killer photography, the captivating clip looks more like a fashion film than a low-budget music video. Atmospheric sequences and the perfect body language of Sophia help depicting the toxic love between the protagonist and her boyfriend. Well done Sweden!

I speak as loud as the volume I listen to music, and this is probably symptomatic of my love for pop music: I love pop music because it is often unapologetically in-your-face, it shouts rather than tell, it drives you crazy. And after 21 years loving pop music, I think I’ve completely gone mad. It all started in 1997, when my mum bought me my first cassette: needless to say, it was ‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua, and from that point on, it’s been a never-ending loving relationship between me and music. I study, work and live life part-time, and listen to music full-time.
