‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Is This Summer’s Must-See Blockbuster | Film Review

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a recently-released action film starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Laura Harrier and Zendaya.

It is directed by Jon Watts (known for producing Natural Selection and directing Cop Car). A synopsis for this film via IMDb reads: “Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in New York City while fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man when a new threat emerges”.

This must be the best Spider-Man film that has ever been made and I’ll motivate my opinion below. Firstly, talented Tom Holland is an amazing asset to the movie. He is charismatic and comic, and his acting makes you care more about what happens in the movie and what his character goes through, bringing a well-needed break from somewhat mechanic action of the Avengers and Captain America movies.

Secondly, this film is beautifully shot, making it perfect for 3D and IMAX. Of course, technology like 4DX or D-Box makes it even more epic. Thirdly, the storyline flows perfectly and it has well-defined characters. I loved it that this film had comedy in it and characters like Ned and Flash really made me laugh. The Liz character could have been explored more. The villain of Spider-Man: Homecoming is good and I felt Michael Keaton added value to this movie and if he wasn’t in it the film wouldn’t have been so spectacular.

I believe it was a good move to include Tony Stark in the story as it made Spider-Man a student learning from Iron Man and this worked well for the film on the whole. It was good to see Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and I wish she got more screen time as she is a great actress.

The only negative thing I would say about this film is that it could have explored more the idea of a homecoming. I mean it’s in the title of the movie, so we would expect to see more of that. If I were to rate this film I would give it a 9 out of 10. In conclusion, this movie was amazing! It was a great reboot to the amazing franchise. There were definitely a lot of twists that made my jaw drop and there were many funny jokes and relatable moments.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is out in cinemas everywhere! Here’s a preview of what you can expect:
