‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Was Originally Titled ‘Shadow Of The Empire’ | Film News

 

So it turns out, there almost wasn’t an awakening, for the latest insallment of our favourite saga – Star Wars: The Force Awakens was almost entitled Shadow of the Empire instead; according to the LucasFilm Creative Executive and Star Wars expert Pablo Hidalgo.

 

If you’re a Star Wars devotee, you might recognise the title from Steve Perry’s 1996 novel; which describes events between 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back and 1983’s Return of the Jedi. Additionally, the title was used for a multimedia project which included a comic book mini-series by Dark Horse Comics and a video game developed for the Nintendo 64 by LucasArts.
