Stefflon Don Set To Receive An ASCAP Vanguard Award | Music News

 

Stefflon Don, one of the UK finest and revered artists of the moment, will be the recipient of this year’s ASCAP Vanguard Award at the ASCAP Awards 2018 in London, announced by the organization this week (September 17).

 

The ASCAP Vanguard Award is an prestigious honor given to musicians in recognition of their impact on new and developing music genres that help to shape the future of the music industry.

 

Stefflon Don, who will be receiving the prize alongside Tom Walker, has had a stellar year this year, with a whole host of notable collaborations DJ Khaled, Future, French Montana and most recently with the legendary Nile Rodgers. She even features on Drake‘s latest No. 1 album, Scorpion. Her smash single “Hurtin’ Me” went to No. 7 on the U.K. Charts and was viewed 100 million times on YouTube.

 

With the force of nature that she has become in the UK music industry and the effect she has had worldwide, encapsulated by her inclusion in the XXL 2018 Freshman Class, this award is more than deserved.

 

Walker caught the industry’s attention with the release of his international hit single “Leave a Light On” which went on to sell 2 million copies worldwide and was streamed over 300 million times.

 

Chairman of the ASCAP board, Paul Williams, stated that Don has “truly set an unbeatable standard in their dedication to authentic, honest songwriting“.
