‘Straight Outta Compton’ Writer To Pen ‘Scarface’ Remake | Film News

Whispers of a Scarface remake have been floating around for years now but with no real intention. Whether you’re a fan of the original 1932 Howard Hawks and Richard Rosson flick or the hugely successful 1983 Brian De Palma version, starring Al Pacino, it looks as if there’ll be another version to fight for your attention as Straight Outta Comptonwriter, Jonathan Herman, is set to pen a first draft for another remake.

The film is set to focus on an immigrant rising to power in the criminal underworld of LA. No other details have been released. Scarface is without a doubt, one of the most iconic crimes movies, especially Al Pacino’s incredible performance as Tony Montana, not to mention the fabulous Michelle Pfieffer as Elvira, so I find it hard to imagine another flick to match up to the already high standard! Still, Herman is making a name for himself as a talented screenwriter, with Straight Outta Compton already stirring up excitment so I’m eager to hear more details on the project! How do you feel about a potential remake from Universal and director Pablo Larrain?
