Teaser For Netflix Original Film ‘Okja’ | Film Trailer
Another day, another new Netflix release. The world’s leading internet television network’s quest to enslave our eyeballs continues. Fresh off the sneak peak into the Will Smith–David Ayer project, Bright, yesterday, today we’re treated to a teaser for Okja.
The synopsis states: “This grand global adventure follows a friendship too big to ignore. Meet Mija, a young girl who risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja”.
“Following her across continents, the coming-of-age comedy drama sees Mija’s horizons expand in a way one never would want for one’s children, coming up against the harsh realities of genetically modified food experimentation, globalization, eco-terrorism, and humanity’s obsession with image, brand and self-promotion”.
Much like Bright, this is a cognisant step away from the Adam Sandler drivel that has plagued the ‘Netflix Original Film’ banner so far. Throw in the fact that the film is directed by Bong Joon Ho, the superb director behind such films as Snowpiercer, Mother and The Host, and there’s plenty to be excited about here.
The film will star Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Lily Collins and Ahn Seo-hyun, and will hit all Netflix territories on Wednesday, June 28.
If Bong Joon Ho can continue his stellar work that has so far made his oeuvre one of tremendous consistency, Netflix might finally have a hit film on their hands. If not, there’s always the next Sandler movie, I guess.
