The Beach Boys Reveal Unheard Live Version Of ‘Sloop John B’ | Music News

The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys are one of the biggest bands from the 60s, and if you are a fan of their 1966 album Pet Sounds, you’ll be pleased to know that an unheard live version of “Sloop John B” has been revealed. The album is celebrating its 50th anniversary, so this news has come at the perfect time to celebrate the legendary surf style music the band coined and Brian Wilson’s inspiring composition.

The band have released the single this week as Brian Wilson prepares to perform the whole album at Primavera Sound in Barcelona this weekend, however his vocals are not featured in the song as he stopped performing the song in 1964. The song feels slightly bare in comparison to the studio version as there is no overlay of multiple instruments in their typical Beach Boys style, however this stripping back of the track means the talent shines through.

God only knows where this has been hiding all these years. Listen to the previously unreleased version below.
