The CW Orders Pilot For ‘Riverdale’ | TV News
The network responsible for DC’s Flash and Arrow TV series’ has recently been reported as having ordered six pilots for upcoming shows. Among them is Riverdale, intended to be an adaptation to the classic American comic series, Archie.
According to the official pilot pitch (available on EW) the show is meant to be a modern interpretation of the franchise, stating “Set in present day and based on the iconic Archie Comics characters, Riverdale is a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade”.
It has also been suggested that Flash and Arrow producers will also be involved with the show, with Sarah Shechter and Greg Berlanti taking on the roles of executive producers.
