‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Hits Broadway | Film News
The 2006 mayor success film based on the Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, The Devil Wears Prada, is planning to hit Broadway.
The film that starred Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep might be the new hit musical of Broadway. Behind its production is none other than Kevin McCollum, Fox Stage Productions and Rocket Entertainment winner of three Tony Awards for his work in In The Heights, Avenue Q and Rent. Along with this high profile producer is none other than Elton John writer, Paul Rudnick.
Along with his monumental pop career, John has worked on several high-profile Broadway shows. In 1998, he received a Tony nomination for Best Score for The Lion King and won two years later for Aida (both shows were collaborations with lyricist, Tim Rice).
More recently, he was nominated for Best Score again for 2009’s Billy Elliot: The Musical” . Reimagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theater is super exciting, said John. “I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture”.
Rudnick’s has also had a succesfull Broadway carreer as a composer, lyricist and playwright. He also has written several screenplays and contributes regulary to The New Yorker and Vanity Fair.
