‘The Godfather’ Actor Abe Vigoda Dies Aged 94 | Film News

January certainly hasn’t been a month of good news… The Godfather actor Abe Vigoda has passed away aged 94 “peacefully” from “old age”, as confirmed by his daughter. Beginning his career in television’s early days. Vigoda reached fame when he starred in 1972’s The Godfather as Sal Tessio – a film that is considered to be one of the most influential of all time. He also resumed his role as the Corleone crime family’s henchman in the sequel The Godfather II in 1974.

 

One of his most defining roles was Phil Fish in Barney Miller – a rugged-faced detective; which he later carried over to a spinoff. Other performances of his throughout the 80s and 90s included: Look Who’s Talking, Joe Versus the Volcano, MacGyver, Good Burger and Law & Order. See a clip of Vigoda as Tessio below:
