‘The Journey’ Trailer Attempts To Rectify The Troubles | Film Trailer

IFC films have released the trailer for The Journey, starring Timothy Spall and Colm Meaney as Democratic Unionist Party’s Ian Paisley and Sinn Féin’s Martin McGuinness, respectively. The film follows a fictional car ride between the two as they attempt to diffuse The Troubles – the violence and chaos that had plagued Northern Ireland for years – and start moving towards peace.

The film is directed by Nick Hamm (Killing Bono), and despite not looking like the most cinematic film of all time, it certainly looks like an acting tour-de-force as well as an important look at a crucial time in Irish history.

It’ll likely be full of hearty monologues and some dry humour, but also looks affecting and interesting. Check out the trailer below.

Also starring John Hurt, Toby Stephens and Freddy Highmore, the film opens on Friday, June 16.
