The Jungle Book has been a family household classic for so many years with both the novel and the 1967 Disney animation still remaining very influential in modern popular culture. The Iron Man director Jon Favreau has been specifically asked by Walt Disney productions to help create a 3D version of the story with an A list cast that includes Hollywood heavyweights such as Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken and Lupita Nyong’o.

The Jungle Book is scheduled to be filmed in CGI live action and is to be released in Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D on April 15, 2016. The release date for The Jungle Book was originally scheduled for October 15, 2015 but was later postponed until April 2016.
