With the announcement that the three original hosts of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, were making the move from BBC to Amazon Prime, the fate of the mysteriously masked speed king was unsure. But fans can fear no more, with the announcement that The Stig will be starring in a new driving competition The Getaway Car hosted by Dermot O’Leary.
The show sees pairs of contestants take on driving challenges before taking on The Stig himself. Testing a range of relationships including siblings, best friends, married couples and even grandparents and grandchildren, will they be able to keep their nerve against the anonymous racing expert. There’s no word yet on whether The Stig will appear in the next season of Top Gear with three new hosts including Chris Evans. The Getaway Car is set to appear on BBC in early 2016.
