The Strokes Close First Day At British Summer Time Festival In Epic Style | Music News

 

The Strokes played their first London show in five years by dazzling the crowd by closing the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park festival. The band played the audience their greatest hits set, with “Reptilla” and “Last Night” piquing the crowds’ interest and getting them into a frenzy. “We’ve really enjoyed ourselves“, the band said to the welcoming crowd, “we don’t recognize London with this great weather“.

 

The day saw 60,000 fans arriving at the Hyde Park opening day to watch Syd Arthur open the event as well as artists like Yak, Gengahr, The Wytches and Public Service Broadcasting on the two other stages at the event. The day also saw celebrities join to watch the event including Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, Fearne Cotton, Nick Grimshaw, Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung, Noel Fielding and many more.
