The Strokes Close First Day At British Summer Time Festival In Epic Style | Music News

The Strokes played their first London show in five years by dazzling the crowd by closing the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park festival. The band played the audience their greatest hits set, with “Reptilla” and “Last Night” piquing the crowds’ interest and getting them into a frenzy. “We’ve really enjoyed ourselves“, the band said to the welcoming crowd, “we don’t recognize London with this great weather“.

The day saw 60,000 fans arriving at the Hyde Park opening day to watch Syd Arthur open the event as well as artists like Yak, Gengahr, The Wytches and Public Service Broadcasting on the two other stages at the event. The day also saw celebrities join to watch the event including Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, Fearne Cotton, Nick Grimshaw, Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung, Noel Fielding and many more.

My name is kira and I study Media and Communications. I live in the beautiful and wonderfully diverse city of Brighton. I've loved writing since a young child when I would write poems about my goldfish and leaves I found on the floor. (I'm hoping my writing style has slightly progressed since then!) I love listening to live music and try to go to as many gigs as possible. Follow my social media if you want to know more!
