‘The Umbrella Academy’ Has Been Renewed For A Second Season | TV News

If you’re like me and you binged the uproariously fun and stylised Umbrella Academy in two days and are now feeling a gaping void in your life not dissimilar to the post-apocalyptic world Number Five lived in….then fear not.

Netflix has renewed the hit adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s Dark Horse comic for a second season.

The show tells the story of the children – now all grown up- of the Umbrella Academy. Once a crime-fighting super force now a super dysfunctional family, they’re on a mission to stop the end of the world.

The series stars Tom Hopper, Ellen Page, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, David Castañeda, Cameron Britton, Mary J. Blige and the wonderfully talented fifteen-year-old Aidan Gallagher.

The show premiered on the 15th of February and has received great reviews while holding the spot of the most successful digital series of 2019 so far.

GWW now reports that the second season of The Umbrella Academy will go into production in Toronto at the end of 2019, with Peter Hoar directing the first episode. Peter Hoar directed the series pilot and the final episode of season one.

As those who watched will know, the season ends on a crazy cliff-hanger. Not only that, there are so many more questions like ‘what happened to Ben??’

Until then, I’ll be talking about this show as much as Luther talked about being sent to the moon.
