British actor Joseph Gilgun is the latest star to be cast in Seth Rogan‘s comic-book adaptation of Garth Ennis‘ acclaimed Preacher. We recently found out that Ruth Negga would be playing the lead female role, and with Gilgun taking the role of Cassidy; the cast is already looking exceptionally promising.
Gilgun will be playing Cassidy, an Irish vampire who, at 100 years old, is the friend of Tulip (Negga) and main character Jesse Custer. Cassidy joins their adventures in finding God while avoiding some nasty characters, including the Saint of Killer and Herr Starr. Gilgun has had some brilliant roles in the likes of Misfits and played Woody in the outstanding This is England series from Shane Meadows. He’s a genuinely brilliant actor that I think will bring a real sense of humour to a character like Cassidy. I’m becoming increasingly excited for this project and I’m looking forward to seeing who will be playing Cassidy! Keep an eye out for more news here soon.
