Thousands Turn Up For ‘Fantastic Beasts…’ Audition | Film News

Thousands of young hopefuls turned up to the Excel Centre last Saturday (July 18), for the open casting call for the Harry Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. The movie called for a young girl aged between 8 to 12 to play Modesty, “a haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness“. It is reported that around 20,000 girls showed up, with some even queuing from 3am in the morning (wow that is some intense dedication).

Fantastic Beasts… is set in New York, 70 years prior to the Harry Potter franchise that we have all come to know and love and is described as “neither a prequel nor a sequel“. The film follows Newt Scamander, a magizoologist who attended Hogwarts and and then goes on to join the Ministry of Magic in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Eddie Redmayne has already signed on to play Scamander and Katherine Waterston joins him as the female lead, a witch called Porpentina. Two sequels are reported to be in the works also, Fantastic Beasts is set to be released near the end of 2016.
