Tidal Teams Up With MTN For A Better Streaming Service In Africa | Music News

The steady growth of Tidal has prompted the announcement of a new partnership with MTN, in order to bring the streaming service into Africa in a major way, with an offering launching in Uganda.

MTN is the leading operator of mobile & fixed telecommunications within the continent and through this move, the aim is to give access to exclusive high-quality streaming music, videos, concerts and more as the continent is becoming everyday more influential in the music business.

The new partnership kicks off in Uganda with three key projects and will guarantee of course a free 30-day trial for all first-time members. Tidal held an official press conference yesterday, while another will be held on September 27, a unique occasion especially for local artists to learn about the streaming service and how they can work on projects together.

Tidal is the main Spotify rival in the streaming universe: the company was launched in 2010 and was acquired by rapper Jay-Z in 2015, who believes in the promotion of good music and wishes to spread it further.

MTN subscribers will be given the choice between daily, weekly and monthly packages payable only via Mobile Money. September 28 will host The MTN TIDAL Experience, a concert to support and celebrate the new-born partnership, featuring the performances by Kranium, DJ Spinall, Beenie Gunter and more.
