Tory Lanez – Came 4 Me | Music Video
Chixtape 3 showcased Tory Lanez‘ multi-faceted skills as an artist. It was a contrast of rapping and singing. “Came 4 Me” was one of the standout tracks from that project, and showcased proof of at least part of the musical identity within Toronto. This comes prior to Tory’s full length debut.
The song opens with jazzy drums and soulful, sleepy vocals. The drums develop into rattling ones, though still quite slow and not too busy. There seems to be a touch of autotune, though relatively tasteful.
Visuals, by Zac Facts, show dimly lit streets, and a gun wielding woman roughing up the man she was in pursuit of. She is then shot, you assume by friend of the man in question, which rounds off very dramatic proceedings. The song title suggests the woman came four the man and died, and did so the hands of his friend.
